For a hub-tapered flexible beam system, we present a high-precision assumed mode modeling method based on accurate modes. The assumed mode method is usually used to model a rotating flexible beam system, using the vibration modes of a uniform cantilever beam. When applied to hub-tapered flexible beams, the effectiveness of this treatment remains to be tested. We study the influence of the selection of assumed modes on the modeling accuracy of the hub-tapered flexible beam system, aiming to develop a higher precision modeling method. Specifically, when the dynamic equation of the hub-tapered flexible beam system is discretized, the assumed modes adopted are the accurate modes of the tapered cantilever beams, which are obtained by numerical solution. The accuracy of the above mode selection methods is compared with the results obtained by taking the uniform cantilever beam modes as the assumed modes, which includes the natural frequencies of lateral vibration of the system under two assumed mode selection methods, and the error of a simulation example for the dynamic response of a wide range of motion-vibration coupling. The results show that the selection of the assumed modes has a great influence on the accuracy of the system modeling when the hub-tapered flexible beam system dynamic system is discretized by the assumed mode method. As a result, a more accurate modeling method is proposed by adopting the assumed mode which is more in line with physical reality, so that the calculation results are more accurate.
