The tooth surface spalling fault frequently occurs in the ship gear system during operation. The analysis of the tooth surface spalling failure of helical gear system shows that the actual tooth surface spalling fault is mostly multi-tooth spalling. A calculation method for solving the time-varying mesh stiffness of helical gear pair multi-tooth spalling fault is proposed, and a dynamic model of helical gear multi-tooth spalling fault is established. The influence of the multi-tooth spalling fault on the mechanical characteristic parameters of helical gear pair mesh is analyzed, and the influence of multi-tooth spalling failure and the tooth surface spalling fault size parameters on the dynamic response of the gear system is discussed. The experimental and simulation results of helical gear pair multi-tooth spalling failure are compared, and the accuracy of the dynamic model of helical gear multi-tooth spalling failure is verified, which provides theoretical basis and technical support for fault diagnosis and health monitoring of gear system.
