The ring tilt and local defects of ball bearings are typical error and failure forms that have a significant impact on the vibration characteristics of the gear-rotor system. Considering the tilt and local defects of the outer ring of the ball bearing, a nonlinear force model of a three-dimensional ball bearing is established. Based on the gear tooth load contact analysis (LTCA) method, the time-varying mesh stiffness of the spur gear pair is calculated, and the dynamic model of the spur gear pair is established. Finally, considering the support of ball bearing, meshing of gear pair, and spline connection, the dynamic model of the system is established. Through the analysis, it is found that the vibration of the system will be affected only when the defect is located in the load-bearing area, and the ring tilt will increase the range of the load-bearing area and improve the probability of the defect affecting the system.
