In order to solve the rail corrugation on the curved section of a subway viaduct in Chongqing, the rail corrugation characteristics are firstly studied through field test. It is found that the typical wavelength of rail corrugation is 40mm, and the corresponding vehicle passing frequency is about 520Hz. Secondly, a vehicle-track-bridge coupled dynamics model with wide-frequency tuned mass dampers (WTMD) is built, whose accuracy is verified by field test. The simulation results show that the vibration acceleration of rail is reduced from 80g to 10g, after installing the designed WTMD. Thirdly, according to the WTMD parameters obtained by simulation, the WTMD is developed, whose first-order frequency is 518 Hz, which was similar to vehicle passing frequency. Finally, comparative tests are conducted between the section installed WTMD (installation section) and the section without WTMD (reference section). The results of the track dynamic characteristics test show that the vertical first-order pinned-pinned resonance frequencies of the installation section and the reference section are similar. The results of rail vibration decay rate test show that the vertical vibration decay rate of WTMD installation section is significantly higher than that of the reference section without WTMD. In addition, three times rail corrugation tracking tests show that there is no rail corrugation on the section with WTMD, while the rail without WTMD appears corrugation with typical wavelength of 40mm, and is 28 dB over the standard. Thus, the installation of WTMDs will effectively inhibit the development of rail corrugation.
