The study investigated the transient vibration response of the elbows conveying fluid in the process of working condition conversion. The effects of different pipe wall thickness, bending radius, flow pressure and working condition switching time on the transient vibration induced by flow were established for elbows. The results demonstrated that the flow induced transient vibration of the elbows were greatly affected by the thickness of the pipe wall, the bending radius and the switching time of the working condition. The transient vibration of the bend pipes were almost unaffected by the flow pressure. The results also showed that the transient vibration induced by flow can be suppressed by increasing the thickness of pipe wall, making the bending radius more than twice the pipe diameter and prolonging the transition time of working condition.
