Constrained layer damping (CLD) is widely used for vibration attenuation of thin structures such as shells and plates. However, few studies focus on rotating systems treated with it. This paper presents an analytical model of a rotating cylindrical shell-annular plate coupled structure, which is partially covered by CLD. Taking the Coriolis and centrifugal effects into account, the equations of motion of the structure are formulated using the Rayleigh-Ritz method with the help of Sanders shell theory and Mindlin plate theory. The coupling and boundary conditions are simulated by the artificial spring technique. To validate the correctness and accuracy of the current method, results calculated by the proposed model are compared with those from existing literature and finite element analysis. Then, the traveling wave motion of the coupled structure is studied, and the damping behaviour of the CLD are demonstrated by free and forced vibration analysis. Influences of some parameters like rotating speeds as well as coupling and boundary conditions on the vibration and damping characteristics of the structure are evaluated.
